equal rights for gays

The black clergy is not on board in terms of gay marriage and now they are doing their best to fight the LGBT activists. If they have their way we will never see gays and lesbians marry with equal rights to heterosexual unions.

There is a dude, Rev. William Gillison, who is the pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, which is a pretty big African-American congregation who is pissed that people are comparing gay rights to the civil rights the blacks had to fight for decades ago.

He says,“We know what we have gone through as an ethnic group. We feel the terminology, the definition itself, has really been hijacked.” Hmmm, interesting so far but he goes further and continues with “Unfortunately, it’s just another ploy to garner more support from people who may not understand what the civil rights struggle was all about.”

Really? I understand what civil rights was about back then, I would have been one of the first to fight on behalf of black people, there should be equality among all, not just the chosen few. Just like African Americans cannot choose the color of their skin, gays and lesbians cannot choose their sexuality. Being gay is not a “choice” and I really wish people would get this through their fat effing heads.

Bishop Michael A. Badger, another pastor says that it sucks that there is discrimination when it comes to the LGBT community but he says it’s nothing compared to what blacks faced back in the 50’s and 60’s.

Dumb fcuker actually has the audacity to say “As an African-American, I don’t have a choice in the color of my skin. I have a choice in whether I’m abstinent or not and I don’t think you can compare the two.”

What the hell is wrong with these people? Why is it so hard for them to face the reality what it is to not be hetero? Stupid breeders keep thinking that a person can simply choose to prefer those of the opposite sex. Too bad they are wrong Wrong WRONG.

I feel bad for black gays because there is a hell of a lot of bias in their communities. I can list dozens of cases of black community leaders who would like nothing more than to keep gays and lesbians down. I hate that it gives all African American people a bad name, I mean obviously there are some that don’t feel the way these pastors and bishops do. Right? Please tell me I’m right. I don’t want to have to write off an entire race of people!

There is a beacon of light however in Governor David A. Paterson. He’s black and in his esteemed opinion what gay men and women are going through now is very similar to the fight to eliminate slavery in the 1800s. He has spoken out against men like those I mentioned above for their pro discrimination views.

Rev. Gerard Williams is another who feels that this kind of hate needs to stop. He has a small, relatively new congregation and in his opinion “Oppression is oppression.” I have to say I totally agree.

He said that “If Dr. [Martin Luther] King had to weigh in on it, he’d come down on the side of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community” This is a powerful statement and I like to think he’s right..

My question is this, while African American pastors are against same sex marriage, is the rest of the black community following suit?
