Beneath the Rainbow: Why This Film Matters

I am a sophomore in high school. I have friends from different social backgrounds, with varying sexual orientations: gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, pansexual, transgender, and straight. It’s very upsetting to see how much hate, bullying, and discrimination is shown to these wonderful people.

I fail to see any harm that my loving, brave, beautiful, and kind friends inflict on anyone by being themselves. No one deserves to be bullied, hated, or discriminated against. IT’S TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!! I am writing and directing the film Beneath the Rainbow in order to touch people’s hearts and minds, and inspire love and compassion for all people.

Beneath the Rainbow

Description: Beneath the Rainbow is a film about the LGBTQ community and those that support them. It’s about moments and feelings. The goal of the film is to create involvement and awareness. We have several scripted scenes, but a good part of the film will involve interview clips. We want to touch people’s hearts and minds, and inspire love and compassion for the LGBTQ community. We touch on everyday struggles that not everyone thinks about and why it’s so important to stand up and get involved.

Our promise: For interviews we want to stay very authentic to the people involved in the filming, with an emphasis on the stories of their lives. As a crew we believe that it shouldn’t feel like we are trying to define these people or their lives.

Underlying point: The goal of the film is to create involvement and awareness. With the belief that the most powerful forces aren’t describable, they are felt, this film is a journey to feeling. Follow the path of acceptance and love towards the LGBTQ community.

Still quiet here.sas
