Birthstone jewelry has been popular for generations and I’m sure you can see why. It is just a simple way to make gift giving more personal. By choosing birthstone jewelry as a birthday or Christmas gift you are showing the person you love that you really were thinking of them when you were shopping for jewelry. It shows that you have paid attention to him or her and you know things about them that they may not have thought you paid attention to.
But if you don’t know his or her birthstone don’t worry! As long as you know the month your lover was born in you are okay. Just take a look at the list below and you can tell just what kind of birthstone jewelry gift will be appropriate for the one you love this holiday season.
Garnet and Rose Quartz are the birthstones of January. Most garnets are a deep reddish brown color but it is possible to find garnets all throughout the red color spectrum, some are even a warm cognac color. And of course I can’t go without mentioning the deliciously green Tsavorite garnets, they are not cheap, that I can tell you. These January birthstones are worth every penny though.
Sterling Silver Brazilian Amethyst Pendant
Amethyst and Onyx are the birthstones of February. You can find amethysts that are pale purple to those that are deep and vibrant depending on where they are mined and how they are treated. And if you want something a little different check out amatrine, these are half amethyst and half citrine. These February birthstones look like a gorgeous sunset.
4/5 Carat Diamond 14k White Gold Aquamarine Button Earrings
Aquamarine and bloodstone are gemstones for March. The aquamarine gemstone is a pale blue color, often with a slightly greenish tint. This March birthstone reminds me of fresh spring water as it rolls down off the mountain on a clear spring day. My birthday is in March so I have plenty of this birthstone jewelry.
Diamond Flat Bezel 14k Gold Solitaire Pendant
Diamond is the birthstone for the month of April. Diamonds are the hardest gemstones on the planet and ideally they are colorless though in the last few years colored diamonds such as yellow, blue and pink have become one of the hottest fashion statements both on and off the runway. April birthstones obviously cost more than some of the others, but you know what they say, diamonds are a girls best friend.
14K White Gold Flower Emerald Diamond Circle Pendant
Emerald is the birthstone for the month May and the highest quality emeralds are a deep and vibrant green though you can find them in lighter shades as well. The thing that makes May birthstones so wonderful is their vibrant nature. Emerald jewelry is always so bright and it grabs attention like no other gemstone out there.
14K Diamond Pearl Topaz Drop Pendant Necklace
Pearls are the birthstones of June. Pearls jewelry can be found in all colors from yellow, pink, gold or even black often referred to as peacock. The latter have a rainbow of colors to them much like an oil slick. May birthstone jewelry is great for anyone, it is classic and always fashionable.
14k White Gold Ruby Stackable Ring
Ruby is the bright and colorful birthstone for the month of July. This is a vibrant and graceful stone always makes a statement whether you are wearing ruby rings or necklaces. July birthstone jewelry is the color of love and makes the perfect gift for any occasion.
14k White Gold Peridot Diamond Stud Earrings
Peridot is the birthstone of August. These kiwi colored gems are a light green and they have a quality flash that makes them popular with women of all ages. August birthstone jewelry is pretty, stylish and more affordable than say diamond jewelry.
14K White Gold Blue Sapphire Diamond Bubble Pendant
Sapphires are the gem for September. Sapphire jewelry comes in a variety of colors from yellow, blue, pink and green, even orange. Each of these colors has it’s own range of shades as well. September birthstone jewelry is fun, flirty and very modern. Sapphire jewelry had come along way in the last 15 years or so!
14k Two Tone Gold Precious Opal Diamond Ring
Opal is the birthstones for the month of October. Opals are stones filled with fire and many spots of different flashing colors. These are an iridescent stone. You can find orange opals (often referred to as fire opals), white opals (as seen pictured above) and even blue and black. October birthstone jewelry can range from classic styles like the one above or very modern ones. It is a versatile stone that is popular all over the world.
Sterling Silver Brilliant Citrine Pendant
Citrine is the birthstone for the month of November and it is a bright sunny yellow colored stone. Citrine is one of my personal favorite birthstones, I have all kinds of citrine jewelry. It never ceases to make me smile with it’s bright and clear color. Topaz is sometimes considered to be an appropriate birthstone for this month as well, and this is another stone that comes in a wide range of colors. You can find almost any color of topaz.
Sterling Silver Turquoise Hook Earrings
Turquoise is the birthstone of the month of December. Those fabulous gemstones come in mid-blue, green-blue and light green colors. You may find it with lines or spots of varying shades. This December birthstone has so many faces and some don’t even look like what you normally think of as turquoise.
This is simply a brief birthstones list, it does not include the meanings or the powers various stones are said to hold. I do plan to cover all those things very soon, so keep checking back!
