All the brouhaha over Constance McMillen is pretty outstanding if you ask me. It all started when a young woman simply wanted to share her graduation with her girlfriend. Doesn’t everyone want to take their significant other to important occasions like Prom? It doesn’t seem like such a big request to me and the fact that it has turned into this massive scandal is kinda shocking.
First the school told her no, she couldn’t bring her girlfriend. That sucked. THEN when it looked like the school might have to back down they said, screw this! And canceled prom altogether. Now everyone was upset. The court or whatever said the school couldn’t legally keep her from bringing her girlfriend, so she got the okay for that. You’d think it would end there right?
WRONG!
The school couldn’t legally keep Constance from bringing her girlfriend to prom but it was well within their rights to deny the students a prom. So still no dance. Everyone hates Constance. They treat her like shit at school, plaster terrible crap all over the internet and generally make themselves look like asses.
All the while Constance McMillen and her family hold their heads high, and it must have been really hard for her. Brave girl she is. I can only hope my son grows up to be as strong and brave as she is. But I digress.
Then parents get together and they is going to be a dance after all. Everyone get’s their prom gear, the dresses, shoes, hair and makeup, so much fun! SO exciting! It’s PROM!
Constance like all the other girls is thrilled to be going to her prom, especially after all it took to get there. She shows up and there is only a handful of people there, like, seven people or something. Where is everyone? Oh, that’s right, they are at the REAL dance.
Parents and students conspired to trick and lie to Constance and some other kids (some say they were disabled in some way or another) to make sure they didn’t get in the way of all the real fun. THEN they set up a ridiculous facebook group called Constance quit yer cryin. The only reason I am even including the link is because it totally backfired in their fucked up faces.
Instead of being a facebook page bashing Constance McMillen, it is filled with comment after comment of support for her. I love it! Oh and did I mention that Ellen Degeneres has offered her a $30,000 scholarship? That brave and bright girl sure went through a lot over the last few weeks, I just wish I could have done more to support her. Everyone in that school should go to jail, monsters. Absolute monsters.
But hey, who gets the last laugh now bitches! She does! Now the world knows what asses they are and she gets a scholarship and the support of not only a nation but the world. HA!
