I Feel Just Sick About Prop 8

Join my informational and fun Gay Pride Facebook page, you’ll be glad you did!

I waited to talk about the Prop 8 situation until it was clear which way the hammer was going to fall. Now that it appears it has, I feel sick inside. I don’t know how anyone could support Prop H8te.

Earlier today I read that it was looking as if Prop 8 passed but there were still some 3 million absentee votes to be counted and with a difference of only 400,000 I figured there was still a chance. Turns out I was wrong.

It has been said now that the fight is over because Prop 8 passed banning gay marriage in California. Even with all the celebrities backing No on H8te, it just wasn’t enough. This is a sad day for America, we took one step forward with electing Barack Obama as the first African American president and one back with the passing of Prop 8.

Apparently most of the black and Latino voters were all for Proposition 8 banning gay marriages. It never ceases to amaze me the way people who are discriminated against can turn around and discriminate others. WTF?? They know what it’s like to have less rights, you’d think they would want to support other minorities, not tie them down.

There is already legal action being taken to have Prop 8 turned over. I don’t know if it is going to go to the Supreme Court again or what. They already ruled in favor of gay marriage, you’d think if they saw the case again they’d vote the same. Will the Prop H8te supporters just have regular folk vote again too? Is this some weird cycle that will go on and on forever? I don’t know, I find American politics confusing.

The way I see it it took a couple of hundred years for the time to come when black people really could do or become anything. Remember how people used to say blacks can do anything but be President? That is not true anymore, Barack Obama crushed John McCain and Sarah Palin.

If it took them that long to get to where they are now, it might very well take us 200 years to be free. Can you imagine a gay guy in the White House? That would be SO awesome!

Hopefully someday we will finally have equality, unfortunately that day is not today. Prop 8 passed and now we have to sit and wait for the fallout.
