Here is a little ditty someone sent me, I guess you would call it a testimonial:

I have a friend who, although she loves the person she’s with, doesn’t want to get married. At least, not yet – something about how she knows she loves her partner, but doesn’t know if she’s in love with her. Plus, as good as her parents are, both she and I know they’re not quite ready for their street’s first lesbian marriage! So I asked her why doesn’t she get a [tag]silver commitment ring[/tag]? No diamonds, no gold, just sort of a promise ring.

The laugh I got in return made me think I’d asked her if she thought Mrs Doubtfire was hot too! When I asked her what she was laughing at, she simply said, “Have you ever tried finding [tag]gay commitment rings[/tag]?” I had to admit no, I hadn’t, but it couldn’t really be that hard, could it? She just looked at me and told me to have a look for myself.

So when I got home, I did. And I was surprised, not to mention a little angry, at how little there is available. I mean, okay, I get it, being gay is still one of these stupid taboo subjects even in this day and age. But come on – gay and lesbian commitment rings (or lack of)? Where’s the harm in that? And yes, you could buy a “normal” commitment ring and wear that, but I wanted to find something different; something that didn’t hide anyone’s sexual choice or lifestyle.

Thankfully, there was one pretty awesome site I found called LoveAndPride.com. Not only did they have a great range of [tag]commitment rings in silver[/tag], they had titanium, gold, white gold and stainless steel. Prices are pretty good, too, starting at $95 and up. So I ordered one–I liked it, so what I’m single– and wore it the next time I saw the same friend. When she asked me where I got it, I laughed at her like she had suggested I sleep with Mrs Doubtfire… so I told her! Now she’s a fan too.
