I love just about everything from Burberry, I am in lust with their signature plaid look and I love how they even manage to bring that to jewelry like a mens watch or even aftershaves and fragrances.

It was in 1856 when young Thomas Burberry founded this illustrious company. He had previously been a draper’s apprentice, and opening his very own store was a big deal, especially since he was only 21 years old. This original store was located in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England and it wasn’t long before he had made a name for himself in the world of outdoor attire.

It was him who in 1880 invented gabardine, which is a hardwearing, water-resistant yet breathable fabric. The beauty of this material was that the yarn was waterproofed before the it was woven, making it strong and resistant to any and all weather. Thomas was able to patent gabardine in 1888.
When he first opened the store he called it Burberry but changed it when he found out that many, if not most, of his customers were calling it Burberrys of London. If you come across vintage pieces of his lines, you will still see this alternative spelling used.
Burberry mens fragrances and watches are relatively new when compared to his early gabardine clothing lines but they will endure just as well. They are stylish, built strong to last and did I mention they look great and are stylish? You can never say it too many times.
