I wasn’t aware just how bad things were for gays in places like Iran. I mean, I figured it was bad, the beatings, the shunning etc etc but I didn’t know that they actually hung people for being gay there. Hung, as in put their heads in nooses and let them fall with their feet dangling feet off the ground as they choked and their little e necks broke. That is some pretty sick shit.
The first time this came to my attention was the other day when I read that the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, and I quote:
“In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you we have it.”
He make this outrageous statement at Columbian University here he was visiting for some reason I cannot fathom. Well, people tittered and laughed but then they started to get mad because they realized that by saying such an ignorant and stupid thing he was single handedly stripping every gay and lesbian person in Iran of their human rights. He was basically denying that they even existed at all and if they don’t exist they cannot be human, you follow?
So while at first I thought it was funny the more I thought about it and looked into it the more horror I saw with my own eyes. I watch photographic evidence of young boys being hung for homosexual behavior and I saw the jails where they are all kept like animals while they wait to be killed off. Some reports say there are upwards of 400 boys who have been put to death simply for having feelings for another boy. I couldn’t find anything about the girls so I don’t know if they even know lesbians exist yet over there. They are so backwards who knows?
I am appalled at what I have seen and read in the last few days and I cannot stop thinking about it. It is just so stunning to me that a person smart enough to become president of an entire country can actually deny that gay people live there. But then again why should a stupid president shock me, look at George W. Bush.
